LORDI Invades CANNES FILM FESTIVAL
May 29, 2007According to Helsingin Sanomat, LORDI's upcoming horror film, "Dark Floors", was being marketed at the Cannes Film Festival Saturday evening.
When French children spotted the monster group on the street, the cameras started clicking. "Loorrrdi, Loorrrdi", they shouted.
Helping create an atmosphere of their own were heavy-set security guards with their earpieces, who followed the musicians of LORDI everywhere, from the minibus to a backroom, to the press conference, and beneath the parasols, and finally even to the stage. The stage of the evening was set up a metre from the beach. Behind the musicians' backs there were dozens of luxury yachts anchored offshore.
Preparations for the show were being made already on Thursday, when the cover of the daily festival issue of Variety carried an advertisement for the LORDI movie, with a slogan in large letters dreamed up by Rampe Toivinen: "The Fear is Here". According to producer Markus Selin, Solar Films had paid nearly EUR 40,000 for the advertising space.
